Official Industrial Stormwater Inspector Course – LEVEL I

Earn your certification to become a Qualified Stormwater Inspector to ensure your regulatory compliance.

Official Industrial Stormwater Inspector Certification

This Industrial course is designed for industrial facilities regulated under the Standard Industrial Codes, (SIC) such as lumber yards, shipbuilders, manufacturing, automobile salvage yards, and other similar facilities.

Oftentimes, pollutants enter stormwater when industrial facilities allow materials or activities to become exposed to stormwater. Industrial materials or activities can include:

  • Material handling equipment
  • Industrial machinery
  • Raw materials
  • Intermediate products
  • By-products
  • Waste materials
  • Final products

When such industrial materials are exposed to the elements (rain, snow, sleet, freezing rain, or hail), they pose the risk of polluting stormwater runoff. This potentially contaminated stormwater may then enter storm sewer systems or flow over the ground and discharge into lakes, rivers, streams, and wetlands.

Federal regulations [40 CFR 122.26(b)(14)(i)-(xi)] require stormwater discharges associated with specific categories of industrial activity to be covered under National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits.

Industrial pollution can result in serious consequences. If you receive an industrial stormwater runoff violation notice from a regulator, the consequences can be severe. Fines can vary depending on the infraction and how often it happens. The EPA or your regulatory agency could give your company a simple warning or impose fines up to $50,000 (or more) PER DAY – PER INFRACTION. Our industrial course will show you what to look for to help your company stay compliant.
